example2 Larien G. Bieber, M.D.

Dr. Bieber was raised in Nigeria by missionary parents before returning to the states to graduate from Solanco High School and Juniata College. After becoming the very first graduate of the Hershey Medical School, he did his internal medicine training at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland and in Hershey before coming to Lancaster to start General Internal Medicine in 1975.

Dr. Bieber is board certified and is one of a hand-full of physicians to achieve Advanced Placement in Internal Medicine. He is also certified by the American Society of Addictive Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.

A man of many interests, Dr. Bieber enjoys travel, photography, gardening, bridge and volleyball. His latest ventures include dispute resolution through mediation and teaching communication skills to medical students. He and his wife, Nancy, a clinical psychologist and spiritual guide, have two married daughters and four granddaughters.

example2 John J. Scott, M.D.

Dr. Scott, a native of Atlanta Georgia, is a specialist in Internal Medicine with particular experience and interest in travel medicine, neurology and infectious diseases. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and Oxford University before entering medical school at Emory University in Atlanta. While at Emory, he met his wife, Dr. Lois A. Kronenwetter, and remained at Emory for his residency in internal medicine. Dr. Scott is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Geriatric medicine.

Outside of medicine his interests include music, the outdoors and sporting activities.

example2 James E. Spicher, M.D.

A native of western Pennsylvania, Dr. Spicher gained valuable experience in Central and South America during college and medical school. He completed his undergraduate education at Eastern Mennonite College and earned his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine at Hershey. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Geriatric Medicine.

Dr. Spicher enjoys gardening, bicycling and restoring an old Victorian house. He and his wife Carol, have two children.

example2 Marilyn D'Andrea-Spica, M.D.

Dr. D'Andrea-Spica has a special interest in preventative medicine, hormone balancing for optimal health, and age reversal medicine. She is a strong advocate for patient education and smoking cessation. She also has an interest in the treatment of headaches.

Originally from Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, Dr. D'Andrea-Spica graduated from Immaculata College and Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University. She completed her residency training at Geisinger Medical Center and became board certified in internal medicine in 1989.

Dr. D'Andrea-Spica and her husband, Don, have four children and have resided in Lancaster since 1989. She enjoys singing and spending time with her family.

example2 John A. King, M.D.

Dr. King hails from the "other" side of the river--York, Pennsylvania. He has an interest in medical education and enjoys the challenge of tailoring new developments in medicine to individual patients. After finishing Juniata College, he went to graduate study in Anatomy at Penn State before entering the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then brought his family back north for residency training at the Hershey Medical Center. Following completion of three years of training, he went on to serve an additional year as Chief Resident and Instructor in medicine. Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine was achieved along the way.

Dr. King enjoys hiking, biking and running. He and his wife Karen, spend most of their free time with their six children.

example2 Philip J. Jantzi, M.D.

Dr. Jantzi is originally from Central Ohio, but came to General Internal Medicine via Phoenix, Arizona. While attending Eastern Mennonite College for his undergraduate education he met Dr. Spicher , and that friendship helped pull him back east to Lancaster. After medical school at Wright State University and internal medicine residency at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, he and his family headed west to sunny Arizona. For seven years he worked with the Indian Health Service at the Phoenix Medical Center . This experience caring for Native Americans has given him an appreciation of cultural diversity and how it impacts a person's health and medical care.

The study of herbs and their usefulness in maintaining health is a special interest of Dr. Jantzi's. Biking and reading are favorite relaxations, but especially enjoyable is just spending time with his wife, Julie, a registered nurse, and children Hannah, Zachary, and Joshua. Dr. Jantzi is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

example2 Swapna R. Deshpande, M.D.

Dr. Deshpande graduated from the Government Medical College at Aurangabad, India. Following training, she married Raja, a Ph.D. research scientist at Armstrong, resulting in a move to Lancaster. While living here for a year, she studied for and passed her American Boards. Then it was on to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for residency training at St. Luke's Hospital. On returning to Lancaster, her family was a little larger with the addition of a son, Sarang and later a daughter, Isha.

Dr. Deshpande is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Currently she works primarly in the hospital taking care of our patients that need to be in the hospital. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, ethnic cooking, reading, and staying fit through regular workouts.

example2 Robert A. Tribuzio, M.D.

Raised in northern New Jersey, Dr. Tribuzio graduated from Colgate University with a major in Neuroscience. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. After receiving his board certification in Internal Medicine he spent two years with a medical practice in Vermont before moving to Lancaster to join GIM.

Dr. Tribuzio strives to provide high quality medical care and believes that patient education is a crucial aspect of good health care. He particularly enjoys helping his patients achieve optimal health through preventative medicine. When not hard at work, Dr. Tribuzio enjoys spending time with his wife, a pediatrician, and their two children. He also enjoys music, sports and outdoor activities such as camping.

example2 Michael C. Manolas, M.D.

Dr. Michael Manolas is returning home. He grew up here in Lancaster, attending Hempfield High School before going to the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation he worked for several years in our office as an administrative assistant, so he knows GIM well. Jefferson Medical College was his choice for med school, followed by the internal medicine residency program there.

Dr. Manolas is thrilled to be returning to Lancaster and to join the doctors of GIM. He went into medicine in part because of the rewarding interactions he could have with people and it pleases him to be part of a practice where the doctor patient relationship is highly valued. In his little spare time he enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities, such as hiking, running, and swimming, and appreciates music and the arts. He and his wife, Dr. Barbieri, love to travel and experience other cultures.

example2 Jennie M. Barbieri, M.D.

Dr. Jennie Barbieri was raised in a New York City suburb before departing to attend the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She stayed in that city to attend medical school at Temple and continued in Philly, completing her internal medicine residency at the Temple University Hospital. While there she was the recipient of the outstanding Outpatient Medicine Resident Award for 2007. Another notable event of her residency was meeting Dr. Manolas through a mutual friend and marrying him in September of 2006.

Dr. Barbieri believes in a team approach to providing excellent medical care. Patients who are actively involved in their health and ask questions get the best results. She and her husband have purchased a house in Lancaster and look forward to living and raising a family here. When not hard at work, she enjoys cooking, running, hiking and biking.

example2 Stephanie L. Todd, M.D., MPH

A native of southeastern PA, Dr. Todd received a bachelor's degree in Finance from Stetson University in Deland, FL before working for Revlon's corporate headquarters in business in Manhattan. After a subsequent stint in Bank Management, she accompanied a medical team to South America, a pivotal experience in her life. She returned to the classroom to complete an interdisciplinary degree in Chemistry at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL in preparation for a career in medicine. Upon graduation, she studied at Cambridge University in England and then devoted 3 years of her life to medical and humanitarian missions. To date, she has volunteered in 25 nations in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, Pacifica, Europe, and the Caribbean. With a passion for international medicine, she has studied medicine at hospitals in Israel, as well as three hospitals in England - London, York, and Canterbury - before graduating from St. George's University. She obtained a Masters degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, and she completed residency in Internal Medicine at the Penn State Milton S. Medical Center in Hershey, PA. During her medical residency, she worked with ABC News as a Medical Journalist and has authored 11 articles for

With a background in business and medicine, she has a strong interest in public policy. Her greatest passion, however, is improving health in develping nations and aiding the underserved abroad. Her interestes include: traveling, writing, sailing, and scuba diving.

example2 Maung Kyaw Win, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Maung Win was born in Burma (now Myanmar) and received his medical degree there. With the deteriorating political system in Myanmar, Dr. Win moved to the United States. Here he finished his Internal Medicine Residency at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Win is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Geriatrics. Dr. Win sees patients in both the office and hospital settings.

Dr. Win is married with 2 children who keep them busy. In his rare free moments, he enjoys swimming and soccer, but most of all spending time with his family.

example2 Robert W. Martin, M.D.

A native of York County, Pa., Dr. Martin completed his undergraduate education at Eastern Mennonite College, obtained his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College, and completed a residency in General Internal Medicine at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He was a member of the medical faculty at the University of West Virginia. He has an interest in cross cultural medicine and has experience providing medical care in Israel prior to moving to Lancaster in 1996.

He is married to Nancy, a nurse educator, and they have two grown children and five grandchildren. He enjoys reading, bicycling and international travel.

example2 Carlos Sanchez, M.D.

Raised in Northern Virginia, Dr. Sanchez graduated from American University in Washington D.C. He received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in 1997 and completed his residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA, in 2000. He moved to Lancaster to join LIMG as a partner until 2015.

Dr. Sanchez's joy is his family, his wife, Dr. Christina Jurasinski-Sanchez and his triplet children born in 2005. He also enjoys golf, tennis, Penn State football, Universal Gym, and Disney World Orlando.

Dr. Sanchez feels privileged to practice both hospital and office based medicine in Lancaster County.

example2 Jarol Boan, M.D.

Dr. Boan comes to us from Canada, but has been in the US for over 20 years. She graduated from medical school at the University of Saskatchewan, and has worked as a physician at University of Chicago, UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Hershey Medical Center. She has had leadership roles in medical curriculum revision and is skilled in the integration of high quality clinical care, education and research in complex organizations. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and currently works primarily in the hospital taking care of hospitalized patients.

Dr. Boan was drawn to the Lancaster community in 2006 while working at Hershey Medical Center. She lives downtown, is a member of the Lancaster Downtowners, and often rides her bike to work. She has one daughter.

example2 Georgia M. Moshos, MSN, CRNP

Georgia was born and raised on the other side of the river, in York county. After graduation from the York Hospital School of Nursing, she migrated east to Lancaster and received her BSN from Millersville. Continuing east, she went on to get her MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) and CRNP (Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner) degrees at Villanova, where she graduated with high honors.

Georgia has a long interest in cardiac problems, as evidenced by her 12 years of work in the Intensive Care Unit, 2 years working with Cardiac Rehabilitation, and 5 years as the nurse clinician with the Cardiac Surgery Program at St. Joe's. While working with open heart surgery patients, she was impressed with the value of patient education programs and developed numerous handouts for patients recovering from surgery.

Georgia and her husband, Bill, have one daughter, Lia. They love animals and their home is bossed by Katina, their Siamese cat. Georgia practices what she preaches- enjoying a heart healthy diet and regular exercise in addition to tennis and hiking.

With GIM, Georgia works mostly at the hospital, assisting our "hospital physician" on rounds, helping with communication with family and referring physicians, and following patients in the Rehab Unit.

example2 Susan A. Juliano, MSN, CRNP

Born in Lancaster County, Sue was raised in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. After receiving her nursing degree in 1984, she moved back to Lancaster and for the next 16 years worked at St. Joseph Hospital specializing in critical care and staff development. She served as a clinical instructor in the clinical care units while a faculty member at the School of Nursing. During her last three years at St. Joe's, she was a nurse/clinician working with the cardiothoracic surgeons. She went on to receive her advanced degrees as an MSN and a certified nurse practitioner from Widener University in 2002.

In addition to her responsibilities here at GIM, she teaches in the nursing program at the York College of Pennsylvania and is actively involved in the initiation of a parish nurse program in her congregation.

She and her husband, Rich, have three children Erica, Amanda, and Anthony. On the rare occasions when involvement in their extracurricular activities allows extra time, Sue enjoys a brisk walk or a bike ride.

example2 Evelyn M. Sheaffer, MSN, CRNP

Evelyn (Evie) was born and raised in the coal regions of Pennsylvania. She moved to Lancaster to attend St. Joe's nursing school and has never left. Continuing her education, she obtained her BSN at Millersville University, and completed a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Program at Villanova. At graduation she was honored with the Ralston Award for Excellence in Geriatric Care. For many years Evie worked as a critical care nurse at St. Joe's Hospital, eventually becoming a Cardiology Case Manager before training as a nurse practitioner and joining GIM.

Evie and her husband, Roger, live in Mt. Joy. They have two adult children. Amy is an Art Education teacher in Cambridge, MA., and Jeffrey is recent graduate of Millersville University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. Evie likes to stay fit with regular workouts at the local gym and is an avid reader.

example2 Cindy L. Blevins, D.N.P., C.R.N.P.

Originally from Northern New Jersey, Cindy's background and experience includes both teaching and work as a registered nurse for 19 years before becoming a nurse practitioner. She holds Master's Degrees in both education and nursing from the University of Delaware.

Cindy is certified as a family nurse practitioner as well as an adult nurse practitioner. Currently Cindy is the President of the Lancaster County Nurse Practitioners, a division of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Cindy sees patients in the office setting and at St. Anne's Nursing Home.

Cindy has 2 children and lives in Quarryville with her husband. Camping, hiking and church activities occupy her few leisure hours.

example2 Mary E. Regan, D.N.P., C.R.N.P.

Born in York, PA and raised in Lancaster County, Dr. Regan received her undergraduate nursing education from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Science, Philadelphia, PA. After college graduation, she served as a surgical trauma nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. While employed as a RN, she received dual masters in the fields of Family Nurse Practitioner and Community Systems Administration from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. In addition, Dr. Regan earned a doctor of nursing practice degree from York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA. She is ANCC board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Regan is delighted to be a member of the GIM team and has interests in evidence-based practice, quality improvement and outcomes measurement. She is intrigued by the interaction between behavior and health as well as domestic healthcare policy and its role in health promotion. For leisure, she enjoys cooking, live music, traveling, gardening and spending time with friends and family.

example2 Jane Snyder, MSN, CRNP

Born and raised in Lancaster County, Jane is thrilled to have the opportunity to care for those in her community. She obtained her RN degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and began work at Lancaster Regional Medical Center. During her 6 ½ years there in Intensive Care she continued her studies. First at Millersville University for a Bachelor's in Nursing and then onward to the Nurse Practitioner program at Widener University. In addition to her experience at LRMC, she spent time in Cardiovascular Intensive Care at Holy Spirit Hospital and as adjunct faculty for Harrisburg Area Community College's RN program. Jane is AANP certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and PA Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Jane is excited to be joining the highly regarded team that makes up General Internal Medicine. When not hard at work, she spends her time with family and friends. Her daughter, Joviana fills her life with laughter and has given her a renewed love for Disney movies, Play-Doh and coloring. She enjoys exercising, cooking, grilling and being outside on sunny days, especially trips to the beach.

example2 Patrice Gruver MSN, CRNP

Ms. Gruver earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree in nursing from Millersville University. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. Ms. Gruver's clinical interests include general cardiology and internal medicine.

In her spare time she loves spending time with her grandchildren and family, cooking with her family, biking, walking, exercising, reading and traveling.

example2 Rebecca Crabtree, MSN, CRNP

Becky was born in Paoli Pa and moved to Lancaster in 1976. She graduated from Manheim Township High School and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Delaware. She returned to Lancaster and began her nursing career at Lancaster General Hospital in the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit. After 2 years she joined a traveling nurse organization, spending the next 2 years traveling across the country as a critical care nurse. Upon returning to Lancaster she resumed her position at LGH where she worked for the next 6 years. Becky transitioned to Lancaster Regional Medical Center and spent the next 14 years working in a variety of settings, including the ICU, emergency department, recovery room and assisting with staff development. She also taught as adjunct faculty for the RN program at Harrisburg Area Community College. Becky completed her Master of Science in Nursing degree at Millersville University. Becky is AANP board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Becky enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, traveling, hiking, cooking, and relaxing at the shore.

example2 Carol Burkhart Spicher, R.D., C.D.E.

Carol Spicher, a Lancaster native, serves as Nutritional Counselor and Diabetes Educator for General Internal Medicine of Lancaster. She earned her college degree in Dietetics from Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia and completed a dietetic internship the following year at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, where she took the exam to become a Registered Dietitian (RD). Working at the Hershey Medical Center as a Clinical Dietitian gave her valuable experience with both hospitalized and clinic patients.

While her husband, Jim, completed his medical residency, Carol worked in Nutrition Research and earned a Master's Degree in Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh. Since moving back to Lancaster in 1990, she has become a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and an Insulin Pump Trainer. Her hobbies include cooking, sewing, camping, gardening, and trying new recipes with her husband and two sons.

example2 Lois Summers, Practice Manager

Lois is a native of Lancaster County. She began working for General Internal Medicine in 1984. Since that time Lois has worn many hats, the most recent being the Practice Manager. In addition to previous nursing positions, Lois has extensive experience in insurance billing, coding and management.

Lois has 2 grown daughters and several grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, bird watching, running, and many other outdoor activities.
