Complementary Health Options

What is Complementary Medicine?

In recent years there has been increased interest in ways of maintaining and preserving health which go beyond the traditional Western medical model. This reflects the belief that science-based medicine may not have all the answers to individual health and spiritual concerns. We believe these health options can build on and compliment scientific medicine. Thus we use the term "complementary medicine" to refer to ways of healing, which supplement standard medical practice.

Some basic principles of complementary practice include:

  • Empowering individuals to play an integral role in their health care

  • Encouraging a balanced lifestyle with appropriate rest, nutrition, exercise and emotional health

  • Emphasis on treating the person, not just the symptoms

  • Recognizing that good health is dependent upon harmony

Attain Highest Level of Wellness

Our goal is to help patients attain the highest level of wellness possible. For many, this means exploring options that are "complementary" to traditional medical therapies. We can offer a balanced approach to the use of  more "natural" alternatives to maximize health.

Our state of "health" or well-being is more than the absence of disease. To attain our full health potential, we need to maintain the proper balance between body, mind and spirit. This means making daily choices about our ways of living- a life long process which at times can seem overwhelming.

Our Complementary services are provided through our Certified Nurse Practitioner, Pam Currie. She is a holistic-minded practitioner who is a resource to help guide you on the journey to health.
